The power of allowing

What a wonderful adventure retreat is. I can close my eyes and re-experience the excitement, the connection, and the depth of the November retreat. It’s amazing what can happen when we come together in a shared devotion and commitment to the truth.

There were a few themes of the retreat, but a big takeaway for me was the power of allowing. It is such a contrast to the conditioning of doing, competing, controlling, knowing that we operate from in our everyday lives. What a simple invitation with profound effects: to allow everything to be as it is. The retreat participants had a willingness and courage to see what arose in this space. It wasn’t always what they expected but there was a compassionate curiosity that opened up in the circle. Whether it was anger, disconnection, joy, or grief, the truth was a healing balm. What a powerful and empowering experience, to go on this journey together.

Right after the retreat, I had hip replacement surgery. This had been in the works for a while and I have already had one hip replaced so I thought I knew what was coming. And, as is life, it has not been the recovery I had anticipated. Everything is fine, but I am working with this energy of allowing as I am having to be patient with the way my body is reacting to such an intense experience. I am invited to trust my body, to slow down and be patient and listen. Frustration, disappointment, impatience are my guides back to open-hearted curiosity and acceptance.

In February, I am hosting a four night retreat. I am excited to have the extra day to allow for more insights, more healings, more transformations. I have called this retreat, “Sitting in Sacred Silence.” Are you called to retreat? There are still spaces available. I hope to see you there.
